If these images are legitimate, gamers all over the world are sure to be jumping up and down with joy as Activision will have finally come through on their promise to take the game back to 'its roots'.

The following images, obtained by YouTube channel TheFamilyVideoGamers, seem to suggest the next installment in the series will be Call Of Duty: WWII.

Yeah, I know. It could easily be Photoshop. However, where would the images be from to get edited in the first place? Some people believe they're from Saving Private Ryan, but have yet managed to find any proof or stills which show the similarity. From what we can gather, the setting of these images is the Allied landings at Normandy in 1944.

Others are thrilled because the storm Normandy mission in Call of Duty 2 was a highlight - imagine a whole game?!

With recent games such as Modern Warfare 3 and Infinite Warfare being set in the future (and players fucking HATING it) this would definitely be a welcome addition to the series.

Activision did announce that they would be taking COD 'back to its roots' during an earnings call back in February.
