Sony are to format a completely new company that will solely focus on iPhone and Android games.
Sony Computer Entertainment (which will be known as Sony Interactive Entertainment from 1 April), has announced the formation of ForwardWorks Corporation. The Independent have reported that this new company will "deploy new services toward the ever-expanding smart device market."
Now, this isn't a completely new thing, old GTA games that have previously featured on Sony consoles and have been available on iPhones for some time now.
ForwardWorks, based in Tokyo, will be able to use PlayStation intellectual property like titles, characters and formats in its games.
In short this means that in the future flagship PlayStation titles could be getting mobile re-brands.
Sadly ForwardWorks issued a statement that their first titles will just be aimed at Japan and the Asian market.
However, if successful it will be rolled out worldwide.
It's worth noting that Sony has previously tried to launch PlayStationMobile, a store for indie games and old PlayStation 1 classics. It was shut down after no-one was that into it.
Hopefully this has the desired effect.
Crash Bandicoot for mobile please.
