Poker Player On The Brink of Breaking Twitch World Record And A Staggering $2.5m
Published

A poker player is on the verge of a Twitch record-breaking achievement as he searches for GGPoker's mega $2.5million WSOP first place prize this weekend.
From 4,092 players who started the tournament, Espen Uhlen Joerstad, part of the Overbet Express team, has reached the final table of the $5,000 Main Event, and in doing so could break the Twitch poker stream money record of $455k set by Poker great Doug Polk back in 2016.
Such is the huge purse for WSOP, Joerstad doesn't even have to win the tournament to be guaranteed of breaking the record, with a sixth-place spot good enough to seal his spot in the Twitch record books.

However, having reached the final table, Joerstad has his eyes set on the top prize and is leaving no stone unturned on the road to glory.
"There's a few nerves and some excitement too," said the Norwegian.
"My biggest final table before this was something like £250k and this is £2.5m so that's a big difference.
"I have breaks to eat and exercise, but most of the other time is working on final table strategy and I have one more session booked with a mindset coach and apart from that I will just be studying strategy trying to get myself in a relaxed state.
"It's not just the strategy you have to prepare for, it's the psychological side and that is the biggest part, as this is the biggest tournament of my career.
Overbet Express is made of a group of five friends who met playing poker, and every member of the team has downed tools to help Joerstad on his record-breaking quest.

"All the boys have been speaking and we are just as nervous for him," said teammate Henry Kilbane.
"We have all dropped everything. I am not playing in anything this week and it's about making sure he feels as comfortable as possible in his game by watching table replays and research on all the players and what tendencies they have.
"Phillip Blank and I have been having 4/5 hours sleep a night the last couple of days working on the nitty gritty stuff of the project where Espen has been going pretty hard in the lab for 14/15 hours a day, but making sure he's well rested as well."
You can watch all the drama unfold on Overbet Express' Twitch page from 5pm this Saturday (11th September) where Joerstad's team will preview the big night, before the action gets underway at 6pm.
