Spider-Man Villain's Return Teased In New Hawkeye Episode

Spider-Man Villain's Return Teased In New Hawkeye Episode

It looks as though Hawkeye is being set up to see the return of the criminal mastermind Kingpin. Here's why.

The third episode of Hawkeye landed on Disney Plus on 1st December and fans are convinced a certain Spider-Man villain is making a return.

Some might say they’d seen it coming with Maya Lopez/Echo making her debut in episode two of the new series and episode three delving into her tragic backstory. Lopez is undoubtedly back to have another pop at Clint Barton/Hawkeye and Kate Bishop. All of that is to say that Wilson Fisk - aka Kingpin - looks set to be returning.

In the comics, Fisk is Lopez’s adoptive father. He’s also responsible for her actual father’s death. But in the MCU, they could be straightening things out by having Echo refer to him as ‘uncle.’ This certainly gives a nod to Kingpin making a return towards the season finale, as predicted by some fans, but if that’s not enough to convince you, there were some other clues that Fisk is back.

Earlier in the year, Vincent D’Onofrio, who plays the criminal mastermind, downplayed a supposed leaked fan photo of him on the set of Hawkeye. Now that we’ve seen episode three, that photo is looking increasingly genuine

During the third episode, Barton tells Echo, poised as the leader of the Tracksuit Mafia, that there's someone above her "who you don't want to mess with" and will do "anything to grow the operation." We assume this means Fisk is back on the scene trying to grow his criminal empire.

Other hints that Kingpin is revving up lie within Echo’s childhood flashbacks. A shadowy figure strokes her cheek affectionately in one of them and eagle-eyed fans think they can see Kingpin’s signature suit from Daredevil in the shot. In addition, fans think the cufflinks on the stranger's hand stroking Maya’s face match Fisk’s and a deep chuckle sounds like it belongs to D'Onofrio.

I guess we’ll just have to wait and see what unravels in the next few episodes.

Hawkeye is available to stream on Disney Plus. New episodes are released every Wednesday.
