A Roller Coaster And Water Slide Hybrid Ride Could Be The Future

The slide coaster promises to combine the thrills of a roller coaster with the fun of a water slide

On first glance, this sounds like an absolute nightmare. Everyone knows that you should leave the log flume until the very end of the day so you can whack the heater up in the car.

Let me introduce to you the 'SlideCoaster' - the 'world's first hybrid roller coaster and water slide' that could see you being launched up to 30 miles an hour in a few seconds before continuing on high speed water slides.

Luckily though it seems that, if the SlideCoaster is to become a thing, it will be introduced to water parks only. Which will no doubt mean you're already donning your swim wear in preparation for a wet day.

The SlideCoaster has been designed by German water slide creators wiegand.waterrides and would see riders propelled with an innovative new launch system trolley.

So, if you get sick of walking up stairs, tag teaming the rubber dinghy as you go (in true Chuckle Brother style), then look no further.

The innovative launch system would see users propelled upwards at high speed.

According to The Sun, each boat will hold two riders who will be pushed across the water flume at speed before continuing to dart around the rest of the track.

The ride is even expected to feature an in-built sound system - talk about unnecessary additions, eh?

A mocked-up glimpse at what you could expect.

On the website, it's claimed that users can enter the closed course at ground level and be launched up to the highest point of the ride.

It continues: "The actual length and inclination of the launch track can be customized to meet your needs. The layouts of the continuing slides can be custom designed according to your floor plan.

"This new German technology allows the riders to experience thrills like never before. SlideCoaster is the latest innovation to enhance the adrenaline factor in your water park. Be the first to own this brand new, high quality attraction."

You could find yourself being catapulted at 30mph in just seconds.

Fans are already keen on the idea of the hybrid roller coaster and water slide. One commented on the YouTube video: "Insane! I need one of these at aquatica because that's my home water park," while another added: "This is actually really cool".

Someone else wasn't as set on the idea, adding: "Lame... you blink and it is over... What is this? A waterslide for ants?" Well, you can't please everyone.

If you think this is cool you might want to take a look at 'The Blaster' which is the world's largest water slide at sea.

Royal Caribbean International announced plans to install 'The Blaster' in January and now the release of GoPro footage has given us an insight into the twists and turns it has to offer.

The 800ft 'aqua-coaster', which opened to the public last month, flings two person rafts through a series of dips and bends, culminating in a ride along the edge of the ship in an open air tube.

There's even a clear section that juts out over the edge of the ship - so look down at this point if you want to see aquatic animals/be sick.

Michael Bayley, President and CEO of Royal Caribbean International, said the revamp was 'unmatched' and 'innovative'.

He said: "Each Royal Caribbean ship brings a new adventure uniquely designed to deliver on our guests' preferences from A to Z. Every detail matters and we've mapped out an unmatched combination of innovative features and experiences for this top-to-bottom transformation of Navigator of the Seas."
