It looks like HBO are going to be taking extreme measures to ensure that there are no spoilers for the final series of the show.

In an interview on the Scandinavian chat show Skavlan, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, who plays Jaime Lannister revealed how far the producers are willing to go to make sure there are no leaks.

He claimed the cast are 'not even going to get the scripts' before filming, instead they will be given earpieces so that they can be fed their dialogue, line by line.

It comes after plot details for the seventh season made their way onto Reddit at the end of last year.

Nikolaj revealed that during the first seasons of the show the cast would receive hard-copy scripts prior to shooting, but as the fandom around GOT grew they began to receive their lines on encrypted digital files.

There are hundreds of forums and webpages dedicated to fan theories - the more bizarre the better - and, of course, sharing the latest 'leaks'.

According to the Morning Call, HBO programming president Casey Bloys gave a talk at Moravian College last month in which he said: "I know in Game of Thrones, the ending, they're going to shoot multiple versions so that nobody really know what happens.

"You have to do that on a long show. Because when you're shooting something, people know. So, they're going to shoot multiple versions so that there's no real definitive answer until the end."

Showrunner Dan Weiss was so secretive he wouldn't even confirm plans were in place for multiple endings, commenting: "We don't even want to tell you because if we do then somebody will figure out how to circumvent the things that we're doing."

Other shows, including The Sopranos, filmed multiple endings to ensure spoilers were kept to a minimum, but they were aired at a time when large-scale hacks didn't really happen, so how effective it will be remains to be seen.
