Sir Michael Caine Drops Two Stone In Fear Of Cancer

It's part of a 'health kick'.

When it comes to national treasures, this man is up there with the best of them. And, if anyone has ever lived the life, Sir Michael Caine probably has.

The cockney actor, who's played some of the finest roles in British films, is a guy who can safely say 'been there, done that, and got the bleeding t-shirt'.

Back in the day, Caine revealed to The Sun, that he used to drink a bottle of vodka and smoke several packets of cigarettes a day.

But now, he has shed two stone and admits he fears of dying from cancer.

He said: "I know my days are numbered and that's the main worry.

"I've had to cut back on the drinking and I'm always looking up what's the best thing against cancer, so I'll eat that or do this, or not do that."

He's cut out all sugar, salt and gluten from his meals, but there's still one weakness... a bacon roll (to be fair, there aren't many who can't say that isn't a weakness).

It's seem a cautious way to live your life, but Caine states there's one reason for it all - and true Family LAD.

Firstly, his wife Shakira. She's the one who 'saved' him. Caine said: "Without her, I'd have been dead long ago."

"I've lost 30lbs just because I want to see my grandchildren," he says. "They're twins of six and a boy of seven. I'd like to get to 17 for the boy."

What a legend. If that gives him 10 more years, where he can also treat us to new material, then we'll all be happy.

In fact, Caine's new film, Going In Style, is out next month - and it's not likely to be his last.

"When the offers of work stop, I will say I have retired," he explains. "The film business will have to give me up, not the other way around."

You'd hope that in 10 years' time, that cancer was being told to do one, and Sir Michael Caine is still producing quality films.

Everyday we're hearing about some new positive in the fight.

Last month, LADbible told the story of a man who was terminally ill with cancer, but was given the all clear after a new 'wonder drug'.

The 60-year-old from Stockport, Manchester, was diagnosed three years ago and given only 12-18 months to live. But after trialling a brand new, unknown, drug - he's cured!

So, for now Mr Caine, you carry on, sir!
