Khaby Lame Wants To Switch Over To Acting

Lame now has ambitions to conquer the big screen, saying he one day hopes to star alongside Will Smith

Not content with being the most followed TikTok star on the planet, viral sensation Khaby Lame has revealed he now wants to break into acting.

Lame, 22, is known for his hilariously deadpan videos reacting to other TikTokers' ridiculous 'life hacks', having turned to the platform after losing his job as a factory worker during the pandemic.

But he now has ambitions to conquer the big screen, saying he one day hopes to star alongside Will Smith

Lame was interviewed by TMZ earlier this week alongside his manager, who translated the star’s Italian to the outlet.

When asked who his biggest idol was, Lame replied: “Will Smith!”

His manager then went on to explain: “He started to dream about being an actor and to do what [Smith] does after watching The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.

“So he’s always been his idol and he wants to be like him.”

The interviewer asked Lame if this meant he wanted to act in TV shows or movies, to which his manager replied: “His goal is to be in a movie, and hopefully one day with [Smith].”

Sharing a message to Smith, Lame said directly to the camera: “Hey Will, wait for me... I’m coming to make a film with you.”

Lame, who was born in Senegal and moved to Italy at a young age, took to TikTok after being thrown into unemployment during the early days of the coronavirus pandemic.

Using the app's duet and stitch features, Lame was able to mock modern 'life hack' trends by responding to various tricks and tips online – humorously showing there is often a much easier and simpler solution, which is usually the most obvious.

Having held the number two position on TikTok since July 2021, last month he surpassed 143 million followers to become the biggest star on the site – now boasting a whopping 145.4 million followers.

Charli D’Amelio, who was the first person to pass 100 million followers on TikTok back in November 2020, now sits in second place with 143.2 million followers.

Lame told TMZ that he has a lot of love for D’Amelio, having met her in February last year when she was in the top spot.

His manager explained how he’d heard D’Amelio had ‘many beautiful words’ to say about him in a previous interview, adding: “He would love to thank her for what she said because he thinks the same thing about her – that she’s super sweet, super talented. He loves her videos."

She also said Lame would ‘love’ to make a video with her, saying the pair had plans to meet up in LA soon.
