Actors would normally be absolutely devastated if they found out they had lost their job, but not Alec Baldwin.

The legendary showman has been portraying Donald Trump on Saturday Night Live since September 2016 and has certainly divided viewers with his performance.

But, now that Joe Biden has been declared the projected winner of the 2020 US Election, it seems like NBC won't be needing Baldwin's skills anymore.

The actor wrote on Twitter: "I don't believe I've ever been this overjoyed to lose a job before! ... It will be comforting when we have a President who doesn't Tweet twice as much as I do ... They're gonna need an enormous shipment of tissues sent to Mar-a-Lago.

"On to my next wish. That everyone who voted in this election maintains that commitment and votes in the 2022 midterm elections. Let's keep this going!!!"

The viewers who loved Baldwin's portrayal of the 45th President of the United States of America will surely miss him; those who didn't will be very pleased.

Joe Biden and Kamala Harris' win over the weekend will usher in a new era of political comedy from SNL and it looks like we'll be laughing all the way to the 2024 Election.

Saturday Night Live

Jim Carrey was appointed the official Joe Biden impersonator for the NBC show and Maya Rudolph will continue doing her epic Kamala Harris impressions.

Over the weekend, the dynamic duo had Americans in stitches, with Carrey putting a bit of Ace Ventura into his act.

Carrey and Rudolph took the opportunity to have a swing at outgoing President Donald Trump, calling him a 'loser' in the style of the famous fictional pet detective.

Biden has been confirmed to be the next President of the United States after a marathon election campaign that saw the race go right down to the wire.

However, Biden and Harris have successfully removed the Republican Trump, and a load of people are very happy about that development.

Delivering a comedy victory speech as Biden, Carrey said: "I honestly kinda can't believe it. It's been so long since something good happened. I've never felt so alive and I'm barely alive.

"Unlike President Trump, we do accept the results."

Then, channeling the titular character from his 1994 film, Carrey announced: "We aren't mad at them. This is one of those situations in life where there must be a winner and a... looooser "

Obviously, that's a reference to a joke from the movie.

Then, both Rudolph and Carrey repeated the word 'loooooooser' with the easily recognisable L-shaped hand gesture.
