Netflix Australia has delighted fans across the country by revealing all eight Harry Potter films will return to the streaming service.

In January last year, as Australia was being gripped with the worst bushfires in decades and was on the verge of being invaded by the coronavirus pandemic, Netflix did the unthinkable.

All those people who wanted to watch Harry and the gang go on their Hogwarts adventures were suddenly faced with a grim reality.

Movies from The Philosopher's Stone right up to The Deathly Hallows Part 2 had been pulled from Netflix without a reason. Many reacted with furious anger on social media.

One user wrote: "Damn. I only just started the books for the first time. Was hoping to see at least a couple of the movies."

Another added: "That's a pity....halfway through the books and watching the movies with my girl."

The streaming service later explained that the deletion was the result of licensing.

Warner Bros.

The Twitter account for the company wrote: "I solemnly swear that I'm sorry for not letting you know that Harry Potter was leaving @NetflixANZ. Licensing fantastic movies is a beast and we wish we could keep them all. (Especially Azkaban, the best one, don't @ me)."

It wasn't the only series that was deleted in the opening stages of 2020, with Life Hacker reporting Netflix ha also dumped the likes of Spartacus, American Horror Story and Happy Death Day.

But, it seems like the tides have turned and for whatever reason (honestly, it doesn't even matter why) all eight movies will be returning on July 15.

In addition to that, we'll also be getting Kung Fu Panda 3 at the beginning of the month, followed by The Fear Street Trilogy: Fear Street Part 1: 1994, which is based off of Goosebumps author R. L. Stine's legendary books.

The second part drops on July 9 and the third will arrive on July 16.

The seventh month of the year is jam packed with loads of stuff on offer, including weekly new episodes of Rick and Morty season 5, which will drop every Monday.

We'll also be getting the fourth season of Atypical as well as the second seasons of Outer Banks and Never Have I Ever.
