Tekashi 6ix9ine has been in court recently for gang-related crimes. In order to reduce his sentence, he's been naming and shaming multiple members of the Nine Trey Bloods gang.

If you know anything about gangs, then you'll probably know that snitches tend to get stitches.

One potential outcome is that he could be offered the chance to enter witness protection in return for the information - but a New York Times report on the case says that he will probably have to pay to have his distinctive face tattoos removed.

That's fair enough really. Even if he did get rid of his multi-coloured hair, the massive 69 tattooed on his face might give him away.

The report speculates that, although Tekashi will probably be offered witness protection, 'it is unlikely the United States Marshals Service, which runs the witness protection programme, would pay for the removal of Mr. Hernandez's [Tekashi's real name] signature face tattoos' which is probably fine as his net worth currently sits around $4 million (£3.2m) according to WealthyGorilla.

Possibly to Tekashi's detriment, artist Mitchell Wiggs has decided to spend his spare time mocking up what the Gummo rapper would look like without his signature tatts.

Jay Kramer, a former FBI official who has worked on organised crime cases, told the New York Times: "Despite how connected we are, and the appetite for social media content in this country, there are places where, if this kid gets a haircut and wears normal clothes, no one would know or care who he is."

However, many are convinced that his appearance would only be a small element of him keeping his head down.

In the past he's been kidnapped, robbed and involved in all sorts of street brawls. And now that he's being called a grass by a large proportion of the hip-hop world, it's possible that he'd have a bit of an incentive to keep under the radar.

Hernandez testified against former alleged gang-members Anthony 'Harv' Ellison and Aljermiah 'Nuke' Mack, who are accused of racketeering and while there he also said, under oath, that rappers Cardi B and Jim Jones were members of notorious Bloods gang - something which Cardi B has since denied.
