Australia's epic, heartwarming and informative children's programme Bluey has achieved something incredible.

The story about the blue heeler puppy and his family has made it into Rolling Stone's Top 100 Best Sitcoms of All Time.

Among the likes of The Simpsons, The Dick Van Dyke Show, Saturday Night Live and The Muppets Show, Australia's very own and award-winning show has hit the big leagues.

Rolling Stone's blurb about the coveted list stated: "From family stories to band-of-misfits hangouts, classic rom-coms to workplace mockumentaries, cringe comedies to antihero showcases, and some shows that defy definition, these are the hundred series that have made us laugh, think, occasionally cry, and laugh all over again.

"This list is also composed entirely of English-language comedies, primarily American ones, with a handful of British and Canadian shows making the cut.

"Mostly, though, we were looking for a consistent group of characters and settings. Then we considered not just how much these series made us laugh, but also how much they influenced the shows that followed, how well they reflected the world around them, and, on occasion, how deeply they made us feel emotions beyond mirth.

Bluey came in at 96th on the list and beat out Schitt's Creek, Night Court, Derry Girls and Frank's Place.

Whether it's simply a list of 100 great shows or it's a countdown, the fact that the programme is included at all is impressive.

When describing Bluey, Rolling Stone magazine praised it for being 'primarily a sweet, heartwarming show with a lot of lessons about the power of imaginary play and the challenges of growing up'. It was also celebrated for its 'screamingly funny depiction of the indignities of parenthood'.

One of the executive producers of the show, Daley Pearson, is absolutely stunned and elated at the inclusion on the list.

"Bluey just made @RollingStone 's List of 100 Sitcoms of All Time," he wrote on Twitter. "Created by Joe Brumm and all made under one roof at Ludo in Brisbane Australia. Thank you for all your support of the show on here and to @ABCTV for being Bluey's 1st supporters.

"All made by board by board and design by design and idea by idea and hand by hand for the last many many many years by this beautiful team in Brisbane."

Last year, the show managed to beat out international competitors again and win an International Emmy Kids Award.

The programme was the only Australian entry in its category and took home the gong for best preschool TV show.

Set in Brisbane, the show follows a six-year-old Blue Heeler puppy named Bluey, who lives with her father, Bandit; mother, Chilli; and younger sister, Bingo.
