Bretman Rock has become Playboy's first ever gay male cover model.

The 23-year-old started out as a beauty and makeup YouTuber and his stardom has continued to climb with every passing year.

As the men's magazine continues to engage with new audiences, it was only fitting for the Filipino-American to make history.

Playboy said of Bretman's inclusion on the cover: "Joining the likes of Kate Moss, Dolly Parton and Fall 2019 cover star Kylie Jenner, the iconic influencer and social media personality dons the famous Playboy Bunny Suit for our digital cover.

"Although he isn't the first male-identifying star to wear the suit, he's in good company: Steve Martin, Ezra Miller, Paul Rudd, Johnny Carson, Burt Reynolds and Flip Wilson have all borrowed elements of the trademarked costume, some even going as far as to wear the full suit."

Bretman was dressed as the iconic Playboy Bunny, which comes with lingerie, a bowtie, bunny ears and some high heels.

He said the photoshoot was incredible and believes its an iconic moment for awareness and diversity.

"For Playboy to have a male on the cover is a huge deal for the LGBT community, for my brown people community and it's all so surreal. A total 'is this even f***ing happening right now?' type of vibe. And I'm so pretty," he said.

He posted photos of the shoot onto Twitter, where he picked up loads of supportive comments.

One person wrote: "This whole look Is everything, from the shoes, the hair, the corset."

Another added: "THIS IS SO GORGEOUS OMG! Making this my cover and everything."

A third said: "You look so good, these pics radiate bad b*tch energy."

Bretman isn't the first male to grace the cover of the legendary magazine, with the late Playboy founder Hugh Hefner being the first.

Latin music icon Bad Bunny followed it up in 2020 with Playboy's first ever digital cover after the magazine decided to end its printed edition that year.

When the decision was made to stop printing the magazine, Ben Kohn, CEO of Playboy Enterprises, explained they would keep pushing boundaries.

"Playboy is many things to many people. A magazine to many, a lifestyle to many more, an apparel brand, a membership club and even, according to some, 'a corruptor of our youth'," he said in an open letter.

"But throughout the past sixty-six years, one thing has remained constant: our commitment to free expression and breaking taboos, leaning into discomfort, helping audiences express and understand their sexuality, and advocating for the pursuit of pleasure for all."
