After playing James Bond for 15 years, you can imagine Daniel Craig would be the type of person who enjoys a quiet martini in a chilled but swanky bar filled with women.

But you would be very wrong.

The British actor has revealed he far prefers to go gay clubbing compared to downing pints at straight venues.

The No Time To Die star revealed his surprising nightlife choice during an appearance on the The Lunch with Bruce podcast on SiriusXM.

Craig said he's been hitting up gay bars for 'as long as I can remember' because he usually prefers everyone's attitudes.

He added: "One of the reasons, because I don't get into fights in gay bars that often...because the aggressive d*ck swinging in hetero bars, I just got very sick of [it]."

"As a kid because it was like...I don't want to end up eating in a punch up. And I did. That would happen quite a lot. And it would just be a good place to go.

"Everybody was chill, everybody. You didn't really have to sort of state your sexuality. It was okay. And it was a very safe place to be.

The 53-year-old started the habit when he was much younger and said there was also an advantage to going to a place that catered to the LGBT community.

"I could meet girls there, 'cause there are a lot of girls there for exactly the same reason I was there," he said. "It was kind of...an ulterior motive."

Craig then recalled to podcast host Bruce Bozzi, who he's been friends with for ages, about the time when they ended up at a gay bar in California back in 2000.

It didn't take long for everyone to go wild over Craig being in such a venue and the actor reminisced on how bizarre the whole thing was.

"For me, it was one of those situations and the irony is, you know, we kind of got caught, I suppose, which was kind of weird cause we were doing nothing f**king wrong," Craig said.

"What happened is we were having a nice night and I kind of was talking to you about my life when my life was changing and we got drunk and I was like, 'oh, let's just go to a bar, come on, let's f**ing go out.' And I just was like, 'I know don't give a f**k,' and we're in Venice."
