Demi Lovato is a strong believer in extra terrestrials and they believe we as a society need to avoid using the term 'alien'.
Aliens have long been the colloquial word for outer space beings (whatever they may look like) and it's a term that has existed in our lexicon for decades.
However, the term has another meaning for people here on Earth and it's usually given to those who don't belong or aren't welcome in a particular community.
That's why Demi Lovato feels the world needs to just use the term extra terrestrials or ETs for short if we want to talk about the beings who might make contact with us eventually.
In an interview with Pedestrian.TV, the singer explained why they believe we need to hone our language around those in the cosmos.
"I really think that if there was anything out there that would want to do that to us, it would have happened by now," they said.
"But, I think that we have to stop calling them aliens because aliens is a derogatory term for anything.
"That's why I like to call them ETs! So yeah, that's a little tidbit. A little information that I learned."
They made the comments while promoting their new Peacock TV series where they look at extra terrestrials and what we know about them.
Unidentified with Demi Lovato will follow the 29-year-old, their friend Matthew, and sister, Dallas, over four episodes as they search for 'the truth about the UFO phenomena'.
Demi said: "I have been a believer my whole life. And I just thought, you know, I'm in a position in my career right now where I'm dipping my toes into a lot of different waters.
"And this was just kind of a natural next step. I wanted to film everything that goes down when I go and search for these UFOs so that my fans can come along for the ride."
Interestingly, authorities revealed earlier this year that there is another term to use when we're talking about unexplained flying objects (even though the term UFO is fairly accurate for what we're describing).
According to the BBC, the new term is Unexplained Aerial Phenomena or UAP for short and it broadens the scope for when we're discussing things like possible ET sightings.
UFO would simply encompass the object you're describing, however UAP will allow for the discussion of what the object was doing when it was sighted.
