Dexter Reboot Will Be Darker Than The Original Series, Says Star

Everyone is getting very excited about the reboot of Dexter and we're all wondering what he's be up to after all these years.

We've just been given a hint that it will be darker than the original series, which is pretty rogue considering the show was about a serial killer savagely murdering scumbags all over Florida.

But the producers and writers wanted to take this 10-episode limited series in a slightly different direction.

Jamie Chung will play a true-crime podcaster in the reboot and will no doubt be hot on the heels of our bloody protagonist Dexter (Michael C. Hall).

She's told People: "The original series happened over 10 years ago. So there's certainly a different vibe of the way the actual show is shot in terms of the aesthetic.

"I do think it's a little darker. It takes place in upstate New York and as we know from the last season, Dexter's hiding.

"So it certainly carries on and you have a lot of fresh faces, but a lot of familiar ones. I think it will certainly satisfy everyone's appetite. Especially if you're a big Dexter fan."

They'll have to squeeze a lot in in the 10 episodes considering we need an update on what he's been doing, how he's evading authorities and how he plans on keeping it that way.

While Showtime has confirmed it will be a limited series reboot, it's unclear whether there's the possibility of another season or whether everything will be wrapped up in a nice, little bow.

Fans were annoyed at the end of the originals series and it's always been described as one of the most disappointing finales in TV history.

Writers and producers will be hoping to turn that around and we couldn't be more excited.

Dexter will debut in America in autumn this year, meaning spring for people in the southern hemisphere. The TV network was also kind enough to drop a teaser trailer back in April.

In the short teaser clip released by the US TV network, we see a fire burning in a snowy forest as the camera moves backwards to reveal Dexter's reflection in a window.

He then turns around and stares at the camera, before breaking into a sinister smile.

A message across the screen then says: "Dexter. This fall."

Officials in Tinseltown said they would only bring Dexter back if they had a really good idea and it looks like they've got one hell of a plot to wow audiences around the world.
