Donald Faison is officially joining the cast of the high-anticipated Powerpuff Girls reboot in the role of Professor Drake Utonium.
According to Variety, the new live-action series - now titled Powerpuff - will differ slightly from the OG animation series by Cartoon Network.
The revival will focus on the three superheroes as 'disillusioned twentysomethings who resent having lost their childhood to crime fighting' but must decide whether or not to reunite when the world suddenly needs them more than ever.

Faison's Professor Utonium is apparently set to be portrayed as 'quirky, debonair, and a pinch narcissistic'.
"He is a scientific genius who is immensely proud of the three extraordinary girls he created in his lab. Staring down a midlife crisis, he is determined to repair his relationships with his now-adult daughters," the description on the publication reads.
We've already had one reboot of the series, which went live in 2016 and finished up in 2019, but this new series will take Buttercup, Blossom and Bubbles out of the animated sphere and into the live-action arena.

Based on the success and hype of Disney's live-action movies like Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast and Mulan, it's not hard to see why a series like this could be an absolute gold mine.
Scrubs and Clueless star Faison will join Chloe Bennet, who has been cast as Blossom, Dove Cameron, who will play Bubbles, and Yana Perrault who has been cast as Buttercup.
According to Variety, Blossom, who had previously been a 'spunky, conscientious, Little-Miss-Perfect child who holds several advanced degrees - has repressed kiddie-superhero trauma', which has left her feeling 'anxious and reclusive'.
She's hoping to once again lead the troupe, but this time she wants to do it on her own terms.
As for sweet Bubbles, while she 'still sparkles as an adult....her charming exterior belies an unexpected toughness and wit'.

"She's initially more interested in recapturing her fame than saving the world, but she just might surprise us and herself," the description read.
Rough and tough Buttercup has gone from an outspoken and rebellious child to an adult now 'trying to shed her Powerpuff Girl identity and live an anonymous life'.
The original animated series of The Powerpuff Girls ran for six seasons and 78 episodes between 1998 and 2005 and saw the crime-fighting kindergarteners take on villains such as Mojo Jojo, Fuzzy Lumpkins, and more.
