Evan Peters has picked up the first Emmy Award of his acting career for his role on Mare of Easttown.

He played Detective Colin Zabel and his incredible work saw him win Best Supporting Actor in a Limited Series or Movie.

Even though he was only in four of the show's seven episodes, it seems like his character was strong enough to beat out the likes of Daveed Diggs, Jonathan Groff, Anthony Ramos, Paapa Essiedu, and Thomas Brodie-Sangster, who were all competing for the gong in that category.

During his acceptance speech, he gave a shoutout to his co-star for helping him deliver such a good performance.

"I'd like to thank Kate Winslet for BEING KATE WINSLET", he yelled, which got a decent amount of applause.

"She's just phenomenal. We were just saying on the way over here I would just give this to her, she's so incredible, and I definitely wouldn't be here if it weren't for her.

"The best scene partner I could ever ask for," he added.

He also said: "Thank you to the Academy. My fellow nominees, you guys were all incredible this year. I got to thank my mom and my dad for getting me out to L.A. You guys were crazy for doing that, but we're gonna drink tonight.

"But I especially want to thank everyone who watched this show," he concluded. "This was a dream come true for me tonight and it wouldn't have been possible without you, so thank you."

It wasn't the only win for Mare of Easttown on the night, with Julianne Nicholson winning Best Supporting Actress in a Limited Series or Movie.

She played Lori Ross, who was best friends with Kate Winslet's character Mare.
