The first trailer for The Fast and Furious 9 debuted this week and confirmed a long-standing rumour about whether the cast would be going into space.

The teaser showed Tyrese Gibson and Ludacris in a vehicle with a rocket attached to it as it's speeding through the sky.

It proved there's no idea too outrageous for the writers and producers of the longstanding film franchise, and director Justin Lin agreed to that premise.

When reporters were given a first look at the trailer over a virtual press conference, one journalist boldly asked whether Mr Lin could one day envision a crossover between The Fast and Furious with Jurassic World.

*record scratch* Wait, what?

Why those two movies would go together is anyone's guess (apart from the fact they're both produced by Universal Pictures), but it seems like the idea still isn't too ridiculous.

The director of the ninth instalment replied: "Well, I've never said never to anything. And the fact that part of our philosophy is not to ever be boxed in or labeled. And that's all I will say."

We're about to witness the F9 crew go into space, so why not battle dinosaurs for the 10th movie?

There's nothing to say the events that happen in this latest film don't happen at the exact same time as Jurassic World 3: Dominion.

Michelle Rodriguez, who plays Letty in The Fast and Furious franchise, explained how it could be possible in the future.

She told reporters: "Once you reach a certain pinnacle, there's nowhere to go but to cross brand and merge, it's what big corporations do with each other when they get too big, you know what I mean?

"You just have to brand and merge with each other. But the only thing standing in the way is lawyers and studios.

"Because, usually the brands that you're trying to merge belong to different studios or whatever. But it's under the same umbrella. I don't know. I'm just saying. It works."

Hey, if it works for the cast then no doubt it will work for the audience. Who wouldn't want to see beautiful, powerful and classy cars drift around a T-rex or race against velociraptors.

If you have seen the trailer for F9 then you will truly know there is nothing the team won't consider. Fingers are crossed.
