Gamers Are Buzzing As Godfall Releases on PlayStation 5

The time has finally arrived.

The day is finally here: the epic, incredible, game changing Godfall has arrived.

The PlayStation 5-exclusive game is a 'looter-slasher' third-person RPG that has been published by studio Gearbox, and developed by Counterplay.

Now, if you have no clue what a looter-slasher is then fear not. It's essentially just a combination of two types of video gaming genres.

Looter is loosely defined as a game that provides randomly generated loot, which explodes out of enemies and bosses when they die. Think Diablo or Destiny. Slasher does what it says on the tin: you slice, dice and rip apart anyone who gets in your way. Combine them together and you get Godfall.

There was a huge amount on hype on social media in the lead up to the game's release, with one person writing: "I'm excited to play this at launch, looks great!"

Another said: "This next week is going to take forever, can't wait!"

The game will chuck gamers into a high-fantasy setting that splits into the realms of Earth, Water, Air, Fire and Spirit.

You have to take on the role of one of the last exalted Knight's Order to prevent a major apocalyptic event. Sounds absolutely juicy.

Being a Gearbox-published title, it's not entirely surprising that Godfall has a pretty strong focus on co-op and looting. There will be loads of options in gameplay, meaning you'll be able to go it solo, with a partner, or on three player co-op.

When we say it's going to be a PlayStation 5 exclusive, that's just when we're talking about consoles. The game will also be available on PC and there is speculation that the game will allow for crossplay.

But this is one of PlayStation front runners for next-generation consoles and they have put considerable work into creating a rich, diverse and incredibly enthralling world that gamers will no doubt get sucked into the moment they start playing.

The game was unveiled at The Game Awards late last year and certainly piqued everyone's interest.

Developer Counterplay said in a statement: "As players face challenging missions in the world of Godfall, enemies and bosses will reward fans with head-turning loot as they are vanquished.

"Counterplay Games is aiming to feed into that yearning for the next best piece in your character build, so they plan to provide plenty of loot to players to ensure there's meaningful impact to gameplay and playstyles.

"When playing Godfall, you can go it alone, or play with anyone at any time. Bosses and enemies have been designed from the ground up with co-op in mind, with special abilities that counter multiple combatants attacking from different angles."

The game is out now so lap it up - you won't want to miss this one.
