British singer Ian Brown has stepped down as headliner of an upcoming music festival because he doesn't believe in mandatory vaccination against the coronavirus.

Brown was due to headline the Neighbourhood Weekender in September but festival organisers have since revealed they will need to reshuffle the lineup.

The lead singer of the Stone Roses hit back at the music event on Twitter, saying he doesn't like the idea of vaccination requirements.

Twitter

"My Saturday night headline show at NHBD Weekender Festival will now not happen! I refuse to accept vaccination proof as condition of entry. Refunds are available!" he said on social media.

Brown has been replaced by James on the Saturday night.

There is no information on the festival website about requiring a vaccination against the coronavirus in order to get in or for performers to have had the jab.

His decision to part ways with Neighbourhood Weekender in Warrington isn't a surprise considering he tweeted last month about his disdain over requirements for big events.

He said: "I will NEVER sing to a crowd who must be vaccinated as a condition of attendance. NEVER EVER!"

Brown was mercilessly mocked for the tweet, however it seems to have been a pattern for the artist during the pandemic.

Last year he claimed the coronavirus was man made in order to turn everyone into digital slaves.

He wrote on Twitter: "ALL tyrannies rule through fraud and force but once the FRAUD is exposed they must rely exclusively on FORCE George Orwell."

In another message to his fans, he said: "NO LOCKDOWN NO TESTS NO TRACKS NO MASKS NO VAX," hashtagging his tweet: "#researchanddestroy."

In fact, most of his tweets are related to complaining about coronavirus-related rules and restrictions like masks, vaccinations and social distancing.

"If you think this is only about a virus you are mad, crazy, you're crackers! nuts! Mad as a ship's frog! But we'll forgive you cause you're up against billionaire psychopaths well prepared propaganda, a well oiled and slick machine many years in the making! Wake the F**k Up!" he said in another message.

Neighbourhood Weekender has released the lineup for the rest of the festival and fans are pretty excited.

The festival's line-up includes Gerry Cinnamon, Catfish And The Bottlemen, Sam Fender, Circa Waves, Shed Seven, The Wombats, Paul Heaton & Jacqui Abbott, Pale Waves, Miles Kane, Easy Life and more.
