Jennifer Aniston has revealed she had to walk off the set of the Friends reunion multiple times because of the bad vibes it brought back.

The actor said the emotion of going back to the place she was in when Friends filmed was too much at times.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Aniston said walking back onto the Friends set wasn't as easy as she had expected.

"Time travel is hard," she said.

"I think we were just so naïve walking into it, thinking, 'How fun is this going to be? They're putting the sets back together, exactly as they were.'

"Then you get there and it's like, 'Oh right, I hadn't thought about what was going on the last time I was actually here.'

"And it just took me by surprise because it was like, 'Hi, past, remember me? Remember how that sucked? You thought everything was in front of you and life was going to be just gorgeous and then you went through maybe the hardest time in your life?'"

Friends filmed 20 years ago (feel old yet?) and Aniston said that while the show led her to a great place, some of the stuff she was going through while filming it made the return pretty tough.

"I'm already a little emotionally accessible, I guess you could say, so I had to walk out at certain points. I don't know how they cut around it," she said.

Aniston was only 25 when the pilot of Friends was shot, so she was on the show during some pretty formative years.

She met and married Brad Pitt while filming the show, and then the pair announced their separation the year the show wrapped.

Aniston was then bombarded with cheating allegations and a truly wild media frenzy, which resulted in people wearing t-shirts emblazoned with 'Team Aniston' and 'Team Jolie' after it was alleged Pitt had an affair with Mr and Mrs Smith co-star, Angelina Jolie.

The actor has been dragged through it by the media over the course of her career, with constant pregnancy watches and every photo of her being used for outrageous headlines.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter about her history with magazines she said: "I haven't seen a tabloid in so long. Am I still having twins? Am I going to be the miracle mother at 52?"

But despite the ups and downs, Aniston said she doesn't regret going through the Friends experience.

"Is it a sliver of an annoyance to have to publicly go through dark s**t in front of the world? Yes, it's an inconvenience, but it's all relative," she said.

"So, I had a choice to make: Either I'm going to surrender into bonbons and living under my covers or I'm going to go out there and find a creative outlet and thrive, and that's what I did."
