Lucasfilm has fired Gina Carano after she posted a bizarre comment on social media.
The MMA athlete turned actor, who has recently been a cast regular in The Mandalorian, uploaded an image to her Instagram story that compared the treatment Republicans are currently facing in North America to the way Jewish people were treated in Nazi Germany.
In the post, she wrote: "Jews were beaten in the streets, not by Nazi soldiers but by their neighbours... even by children.
"Because history is edited, most people today don't realise that to get to the point where Nazi soldiers could easily round up thousands of Jews, the government first made their own neighbours hate them simply for being Jews.
"How is that any different from hating someone for their political views?"
She also posted a picture of a person wearing multiple face masks and mocked them by writing 'Meanwhile: In California'.
The actor has deleted both posts, however this is not the first time she has courted controversy with her views on social media.
News of the uploads caused the hashtag #FireGinaCarano to go viral on Twitter and it appears her employer has dropped her from any future projects.
A statement has been by Lucasfilm via Variety and said: ""Gina Carano is not currently employed by Lucasfilm and there are no plans for her to be in the future.
"Nevertheless, her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable."
