In a twist that no one saw coming (at least this fast), Melissa Rawson and Bryce Ruthven from the latest season of Married At First Sight are engaged.

While it's hoped every couple who take part in the Channel 9 programme end up together, it rarely ever goes the distance and most break up when the show wraps up or a short time later.

However, despite all their issues during the filming of the dramatic reality TV show, it seems like they're looking to the future.

They announced via New Idea that not only are they engaged for real this time but Melissa is pregnant with twins.

Bryce told the magazine: "It's all happened very fast. People saw on the show how supportive and loyal Mel was. I'm pleased to say that's transitioned to the real world.

"We're not doing this for anybody else, it's about us - we're cementing our love. Melissa deserves to be happy and I'm apparently very good at that, so I'm looking forward to making it all official."

Melissa added: "It's been a whirlwind, but we're so incredibly happy. We'd already been married on the show and, with our relationship getting stronger, this just felt like the logical next step."

She also said how shocked she was at the news they were expecting two kids instead of one. Melissa said Bryce had to wait outside due to Covid-19 restrictions, leaving her to cop the news on her own.

"So I was alone during the first ultrasound and she just came straight out with it - no warning. I couldn't stop crying, it was very emotional. I think I said 'holy s**t' seven times," she said.

They said the wedding will likely be 'low-key' because they'll be new parents at that stage and they don't want to cause much of a fuss.

Plus, they already had their TV-style nuptials in front of the whole country, so it's understandable they want their official wedding to be a little more chilled.

Here's hoping their married and parental life will be far less dramatic than what happened on Married At First Sight.

They were the couple that attracted all the headlines during their season and there was even a petition calling for trigger warnings to be displayed due to their toxic and problematic behaviour.

But, it seems like they've made it through the tough part and now get to raise twins.
