Margaret And David Come Out Of Retirement To Review 2020 Like It's A Movie

In classic At the Movies style, they disagreed on nearly every point.

Margaret and David were an iconic duo that would review movies together for the ABC's At the Movies.

Their programme ended in 2014, however they've decided to come out of hiding to review 2020 like it was a feature film.

The comedic duo teamed up with The Shovel to recreate their At the Movies dry reviewing style to have a look at the year that was...and boy there was a lot to unpack.

David Stratton is pretty succinct with his perspective of the beginning of the decade, saying: "An ageing despot with deteriorating mental health refuses to engage with a global pandemic and overboiling racial tensions, while people are forced to stay home to watch a documentary on big cat game parks."

"In another director's hands perhaps it could have worked, but unfortunately, 2020 is a disappointing failure.

"It's difficult to work out what 2020 actually is. A sci-fi? A disaster epic? A political drama? Some sort of dark comedy? It's hard to tell."

In classic At the Movies style, his co-host, Margaret Pomeranz completely disagreed with David and said she 'loved' the movie that was 2020.

"I thought it was ridiculous, satirical, vastly entertaining, absolutely hilarious."

She ended up giving 2020 five stars and David hit back with just one star for the year that gave us catastrophic bushfires, a deadly pandemic, flash flooding, a US election that was like no other in history, a resurgence of the Black Lives Matter movement, a bunch of tragic celebrity deaths, outrageous entertainment, and more.

Let's hope 2021 isn't as bonkers.
