Viewers who lapped up Love on the Spectrum will be delighted to know that a fan favourite is returning for a second shot at true happiness.

Michael, from Wollongong, won hearts all over Australia when the first series was released.

He showed the camera a heart-shaped picture frame that he intends to fill when he meets his future wife.

The match-making dating show originally aired on ABC and then was picked up by Netflix Australia and New Zealand, where the stories of people with autism trying to find love was seen by a bigger audience.

The series explored each person's life, how their autism affects them, and what they're looking for in a potential partner. They were paired up with a relationship expert to teach and inform them of what to do on dates before getting dinner with another person.

Some of them succeeded in getting another date with a potential partner and others weren't so lucky.

Michael was one of the standouts of the show and while he didn't end up with his future wife, he wasn't deterred by the experience.

The ABC has confirmed he's coming back for another shot at finding love.

We haven't been told when we can expect to see the second season air except for that it'll be next year, so we'll have to stay tuned.

Critics around the world were blown away with the series, with The Guardian praising it for its in-depth look at the way people with disabilities find romance and gave it four out of five stars.

Decider was similarly complimentary and said it 'is unlike any Netflix reality dating show you've seen before, in the best way'.

It also won favour with viewers who are on the spectrum, with one writing: "Love On The Spectrum is such a wonderful show. As someone on the spectrum, it makes me feel not so weird. I'm in good company."

Another said: "Watching Love On The Spectrum on Netflix and loving it. It's people like me on the screen. Speech like mine. Mannerisms like mine. Interests like mine. Topics like mine. Honesty and directness like mine. My people. MY PEOPLE ON SCREEN!!! I absolutely love it."

The first season of Love On The Spectrum is available to stream on Netflix Australia.
