If you're hoping to see Jai Arrow's luscious mullet take to the field during the NRL next season, we've got some bad news.

The South Sydney Rabbitohs recruit has been told by head coach Wayne Bennett that he won't be permitted to grow the iconic haircut again now that he's in the club.

Queensland State of Origin forward Arrow has joined the Bunnies from the Gold Coast Titans in a four-year deal worth about $800,000 per season.

Legendary Souths coach Bennett is clearly fond of Arrow's playing style, but the same can't be said for his iconic mullet.

"Wayne came and had a chat to me before I came down [to Sydney]," Arrow told Jimmy Smith and Katie Brown on SEN radio.

"And said 'you won't be having any stupid haircuts next year, will you?' and I said 'nah, you're the boss, you're the coach, I'll have my normal haircut'.

"I'm due for a haircut at the moment so I'm just going to stick to the normal haircut I've had for a while, I won't be bringing the mullet back.

"I'll have to have a chat to Wayne but he's not too fond of it."

Arrow's mullet achieved legendary status last season. Photos of his luscious locks adorned social media and every absolutely frothed over his commitment to the 'Business in the Front, Party in the Back' style.

But as the season drew to a close, his real reasons for growing it were laid bare.

It was revealed that the 25-year-old was raising funds and awareness for the Leukaemia Foundation after his mother was diagnosed for Hodgkin's lymphoma.

Arrow even took part in the World's Greatest Shave later in the year.

But mullet or no mullet, Arrow seems like a legend of a bloke either way - and one helluva footy player.
