Rebel Wilson has opened up on the public's obsession with her weight loss.

The Aussie actor embarked on a year of living and eating healthy and she's lost a dramatic amount of weight.

Her fans have been cheering her on from the sidelines and praise her anytime she uploads pictures of her slimmer figure.

The media has also been keenly watching these updates and have similarly celebrated the physical transformation.

However, the 41-year-old has been a bit shocked by all this attention.

Speaking with Stellar, Rebel said she finds it all very interesting considering her acting career has been flourishing just as much.

"In 2019, I had like four movies come out, two which I [also] produced and one, Jojo Rabbit, which got nominated for an Academy Award for Best Picture," she said.

"Yet I get more press the following year when I do nothing except lose weight.

"People are so obsessed with it. But I get it. Oprah is one of my heroes. She's certainly struggled with eating issues and I would always watch her episodes when she spoke about that."

Rebel said she's lost around 30 kilograms since launching her self-described Year of Health and she's really proud of what she's achieved.

She adds that losing the weight is one thing, but maintaining it is a completely different kettle of fish.

The Pitch Perfect star explained how she originally gained weight through emotional eating.

"When I was at my heaviest, I also had the most international attention on me. Because I'm not a natural performer, my natural personality is very introverted; the way I dealt with that pressure was to eat. I would reward myself with a block of chocolate," she said.

She recently shared an image of herself when she was at her 'unhealthiest', which was when she was in tennis gear posing next to Novak Djokovic.

Writing on Instagram, the 41-year-old said: "I look back now at that girl and am so proud of what she's become and achieved.

"And just wanted to send out some encouragement to everyone out there struggling with weight or body issues or emotional eating."

Rebel revealed the other reason that drove her to lose the weight was to help her chances of falling pregnant and she still hopes to one day be a mum.
