Sony Reveals PlayStation 5 Will Drop In Australia And NZ On November 12

After months of speculation and leaks, Sony has finally confirmed the price and release date of the PlayStation 5.

The standard and digital editions of the next-gen console will launch in the US, Japan, Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, and South Korea on November 12.

The rest of the world will get it on November 19.

It will set you back a cool $749 for the standard model and $599 for the digital version.

Regardless of which console you take home on launch day, it'll come packaged with a DualSense controller, an 825GB SSD base to put the console on, an HDMI cable, a power cable, a USB cable, and an instruction manual.

Each will also come pre-loaded with Astro's Playroom, which is a pretty fun-looking launch game that has been designed to introduce players to many of the DualSense controller's shiny new features.

It's worth noting that the only real difference between the standard and digital models is the 4K UHD Blu-Ray drive, which you'll only find in the standard PS5.

Beyond that, both consoles boast the exact same specs: a custom AMD GPU, ultra-fast SSD, and an impressive 10.28 Teraflops of GPU power.

All told, it's not too bad a price at all for the next-gen PlayStation, especially since some analysts were predicting it would cost close to $1,000

In terms of raw specs, the Xbox Series X is objectively a beefier console - but it's what both companies choose to do with the hardware that really matters. A lot of praise has been leveled at the PS5's quicker loading times, with many developers already suggesting that it's a great console to develop games for.

Now that all the next-gen pricing is out there, the only thing left to do is decide which console you're going for. Pre-orders for the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S go live on September 22nd ahead of a November 10th launch.

Of course it doesn't matter which console you go for, as long as you're happy. With some great hardware and fantastic-looking games coming from both sides in the next few months, it looks like there's going to be something for everyone. Bring on the next generation of gaming.
