The whole world was captivated by Jamal Hinton and Wanda Dench's awesome and heartwarming Thanksgiving story.

Wanda accidentally sent a text message to Jamal six years ago telling him what time she wanted him to come over for the annual holiday meal.

Even though they were complete strangers, Jamal said he would come to Wanda's place and bring a plate of food to help out.

They have kept the tradition alive for six years and everyone went all warm and fuzzy when the pair were together for this year's Thanksgiving.

But, it seems like their story is so awesome that Netflix has commissioned a movie about the pair.

Variety reports the film will be called The Thanksgiving Text and will detail how Jamal and Wanda met in 2016 and how they kept the tradition alive all these years later.

They've released a joint statement saying they are so happy that their story is being immortalised by the streaming service.

"We are excited to share our story with the world. We hope it inspires more people to reach out and make connections that they wouldn't ordinarily make," they said.

"We are so blessed to find a genuine friendship brought together by God from a mistaken text message."

Vareity says Abdul Williams (The Bobby Brown Story) has been tapped to write the screenplay and Netflix is yet to find a director as well as the actors for Jamal and Wanda.

In their original interaction, Wanda messaged Jamal with the time he should get to her home on 24 November 2016.

He responded asking who she was and the pair adorably shared pictures of themselves with Jamal writing: "You not my grandma," before adding: "Can I still get a plate tho?"

Wanda then responded: "Of course you can. That's what grandma's do...feed every one."

Since that message, Wanda has welcomed Jamal to have a meal alongside her family every year, although 2020 ended up being very different as Wanda's husband, Lonnie, passed away from Covid-19.

Not forgetting him, Lonnie was honoured at the table with a photograph and a candle, while Wanda ended up saying grace - a job that would usually be Lonnie's.

Wanda then went big this year and invited Jamal, his girlfriend and his whole family to her place to make the sixth meeting the biggest yet.
