Sydney Resident Has Hilarious Response To Neighbour's Extravagant Christmas Lights

It's the second time we've seen an Aussie homeowner take this cheeky approach.

'Tis the season for OTT Christmas light displays, and this year, one cheeky homeowner has taken a different approach to the traditional look.

The Sydney resident managed to steal the spotlight from the festive family next door with a simple yet highly effective message that relates to those who truly can't be bothered to take on their much more dedicated neighbours.

In a video shown on Sunrise, the neighbours' elaborate display features all the bells and whistles you'd come to expect from a top-tier Christmas light display.

Then, panning to the neighbour's house, a single lit sign with an illuminated arrow features across the house and points next door with the message reading: "Ditto."

However, it seems it's not the first time someone has used the same method to playfully steal the spotlight from their neighbours' extravagant display.

Last year, one unnamed homeowner in in Morphett Vale, near Adelaide, south Australia, also wanted to have the last word.

Fortunately for us, someone also captured the hilarious message on camera, with the homeowner's light display reading out a similar 'Ditto' with an arrow.

Another man last year also used the opportunity to spread a positive message through his light display.

Christian Roach beat testicular cancer last year and decorated his house with Christmas lights that spell out 'Check Yr Nuts' to raise awareness for the cause.

The 41-year-old dad first started feeling pain in his testicles in October 2018. He was diagnosed with testicular cancer in January and, after having treatment, he now has the all clear.

To celebrate, Christian from Trealaw, Rhondda, Wales, decided to put up a festive light display to encourage other men to check their bits.

He has spelled out 'Check Yr Nuts' using 750 fairy lights hung up on the railings outside the front of his home.

The dad-of-three said: "I had cancer at Christmas last year but I had no idea.

"I knew something was wrong and couldn't properly enjoy Christmas. I am normally very bubbly but my mates and the family said I seemed off.

"I tried to put on a brave face but people did say I didn't seem like myself. The message with the lights is massive and really important to me.

"We trim up with lights every year and I just said this as a joke at first. But Nicola loved the idea and we ran with it. The street is glowing up now it is."
