Just when you thought you had seen or heard the last of Rocky Balboa, Sylvester Stallone has come up with a trick to keep his iconic character going.
No, it won't be another film showing the legendary boxer in an old folks home but will instead go way, way back.
Stallone has revealed he's started work on getting a prequel series about Rocky.
Writing on Instagram, the actor said: "This may be the strangest posting yet. I started out this morning by writing a treatment for a Rocky prequel For streaming.
"Ideally 10 episodes for a few seasons to really get to the heart of the Characters in there [sic] younger years.
"Here is a small portion of how my creative writing Process starts...Hope it happens - And then I needed to clear my head so I went fishing... Talk about extremes! Keep punching my friends."
Hello Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, HBO...want a certified banger in your arsenal?
It's hard to make out a lot of what Stallone has written on his pieces of paper, but it's clear he's put a lot of thought into it.
His fans seemed absolutely stoked at the thought of seeing how Rocky Balboa became the man we first saw all the way back in 1976.
One person wrote: "Rocky prequel?! It will be the best Christmas present ever for all your fans! Really hope it will be so!"
Another added: "Would absolutely LOVE to see this one day."
A third said: "I WOULD LOVE IT."
We first met Rocky several decades ago when he was just an Italian journeyman southpaw boxer who fought in small gyms and was given the chance of a lifetime to fight Apollo Creed.
Not much else was known about the bloke except for that he worked as a collector for a loan shark. How he became a fighter could be gripping television, as well as whether he had another love of his life outside Adrian.
Since the first movie was released, it has been followed by five more, as well as two further spin-offs, Creed (2015) and Creed II (2018).
A third Creed is in the works and we could be treated to a whole goddamn TV series about the original protagonist.
