Fans of Friends are very excited after the first trailer for the highly anticipated reunion special has dropped.

The eagerly-anticipated special sees the cast of the hit '90s sitcom get back together to chat about and relive their time on the show.

The one-off special episode on HBO will see stars Jennifer Aniston (Rachel Green), Courteney Cox (Monica Geller), Lisa Kudrow (Phoebe Buffay), Matt LeBlanc (Joey Tribbiani), Matthew Perry (Chandler Bing), and David Schwimmer (Ross Geller) sit down for an unscripted show to celebrate the comedy that ended way back in 2004.

The network has also decided to call in some star power for the show.

The original cast will be joined by some A-list fans of the show, including David Beckham, Justin Bieber, James Corden, Cindy Crawford, Cara Delevingne, Lady Gaga, Kit Harington, Mindy Kaling, Thomas Lennon and Christina Pickles - as well as former guest stars such as Reese Witherspoon, Tom Selleck and Elliot Gould.

Earlier this month it was announced that it would be airing on 27 May on HBO Max.

Speaking ahead of the special, Aniston said that while fans have been itching for it to hit their screens for months, the extra time given to preparing the show as a result of the pandemic has made it better than it would have been otherwise.

She told Deadline: "It's going to be super. You know what? This has also given us more time to make it even more exciting and more fun than it would have been.

"So, I choose to see it as the glass is half-full that it got postponed.

"Look, we're not going anywhere. You're never going to get rid of Friends, sorry. You're stuck with us for life, guys."

Ahead of filming, co-star Cox said she was just excited to get back into the room with the rest of the cast after so long away from the show.

Speaking on an episode of Kevin Nealon's web series titled Hiking With Kevin she said: "The exciting thing is that we're all going to get together for the first time, in a room, and actually talk about the show.

"We're going to have the best time."

Aniston added: "It's going to be great. We really haven't all done that and actually sat there and talked about and reminisced about this incredible experience that we had."

Unsurprisingly, when the show was announced back in February last year, fans were not shy in expressing their excitement.

One shrieked: "So glad this is happening!"

Another wrote: "The Friends Reunion is everything I've ever needed in life."

While a third said: "I've been waiting for this for too f***ing long! I'm already emotional! Could I BE more excited?"
