Ever since viewers finished The Haunting of Hill House they have been craving for more. Well, after months of waiting, The Haunting of Bly Manor is finally here.

The sequel will arrive on Netflix Australia and New Zealand later today (October 9) and no doubt people will have it finished before the weekend is done.

The official synopsis reads: "From The Haunting of Hill House creator Mike Flanagan and producer Trevor Macy comes The Haunting Of Bly Manor, the next highly anticipated chapter of The Haunting anthology series, set in 1980s England and based on Henry James' 1898 novella The Turn of the Screw.

"After an au pair's tragic death, Henry Wingrave (Henry Thomas) hires a young American nanny (Victoria Pedretti) to care for his orphaned niece and nephew (Amelie Bea Smith, Benjamin Evan Ainsworth) who reside at Bly Manor with the estate's chef Owen (Rahul Kohli), groundskeeper Jamie (Amelia Eve) and housekeeper, Mrs. Grose (T'Nia Miller).

"But all is not as it seems at the manor, and centuries of dark secrets of love and loss are waiting to be unearthed in this chilling gothic romance. At Bly Manor, dead doesn't mean gone." Yep - we're already scared.

Viewers were concerned the show might not premiere this year due to the coronavirus, however their fears were allayed when the creator of the series made a big announcement.

Mike Flanagan revealed most of the filming had already been done before the pandemic hit, meaning the crew was able to stitch it together without being delayed.

Flanagan said the new series will feature 'some familiar faces' and, like its predecessor, will be 'rife with chills, thrills, and things that go bump in the night'.

But while the The Haunting of Hill House, was 'ultimately a story of grief, trauma, and familial strife, our new adventure will have a 'love story' at its heart.

"In Henry James' world, 'romance' [...] meant mystery and excitement - and Gothic Romance meant horror and ruin," Flanagan said. "Romance held buried secrets, supernatural agony, and the sense of encroaching doom.

"Gothic Romance, it turns out, has teeth... and we have had a blast sharpening them for you all."

The Haunting of Bly Manor will hit Netflix in Australia and New Zealand this afternoon.
