40,000 People Sign Petition Demanding James Corden Stay Away From The Wicked Movie

More than 40,000 people have signed a petition demanding James Corden stay away from the movie adaptation of the Wicked musical.

Fans erupted with joy over the news that Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo had been cast in the big screen version of the smash hit stage production.

However, because Corden has appeared in several big name musicals recently (like Cats, The Prom and Cinderella) many believe he shouldn't be allowed to take part in Wicked.

This sentiment has been shared by tens of thousands of people and there is even an online campaign begging he not be cast in the film.

Mikel Miller started a Change.org petition three dayss ago and it has quickly amassed more than 41,000 signatures to date.

He wrote: "James Corden in no way shape or form should be in or near the production of Wicked the movie."

Despite having quite a big acting career before becoming an American talk show host, it appears many don't like seeing Corden in films acting alongside other actors.

He can obviously hold a note if you've seen him duetting with any one of his famous guests in Carpool Karaoke.

But fans say there's just something that rubs them up the wrong way when he's on screen for a big name production.

Many of the people who signed the online campaign feel the same way and they don't want to see Corden a part of something so iconic.

Katie explained: "James Corden is the worst and ruins every movie musical he's in. I'm literally begging don't let him anywhere near Wicked."

Juan added: "He's awesome as a talk show host. He is funny when the occasion calls for it. But Corden just plays himself when it comes to acting. In fact, has no acting skills whatsoever. He ruined the Cats movie. So please keep him away from Wicked."

Carla wrote: "Cinderella was the final straw, he has no idea of how to make a movie and the fact that he is taking the place from someone who really care and knows about it is ridiculous!"

There's been no casting update regarding Corden's involvement in the film as only Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo have been named.

Grande will be taking on the role of Glinda and Erivo will play Elphaba.

Wicked is the musical that serves as the prequel to The Wizard of Oz and shows how Elphaba becomes the Wicked Witch of the West.
