After years of hiatus, Big Brother has sprung back on TVs across Australia and people are absolutely eating it up.

Channel 7, who broadcasts the reality show, has revealed that ratings are being smashed with the new-look series and figures have been so impressive that they're doing another season.

As a result, that means they'll be looking for a bunch of new people hungry for their 15 minutes of fame and a cheeky $250,000 grand prize.

Applications have now opened for the next season, so you better get your details lodged before the deadline closes on August 14.

There are a few rules you'll need to be aware of before you put in your application:

  • You must be 18 years of age or over by 22nd June 2020
  • You must be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident.
  • You must be available for one (possibly two) days between 17th of August and 6th of September 2020 for a potential audition with producers.
  • You must be available for approximately 10-12 weeks for the shoot. At this stage, shooting will take place between October - December 2020

Network Programming Director Angus Ross said: "Big Brother is a television super brand and this season has been embraced by audiences around Australia. It's the most talked-about show in Australia, as well as being the most streamed - and a genuine social media phenomenon.

"We're excited to be working with Endemol Shine Australia - who produce some of the best TV in the country - to deliver a new season of the reimagined Big Brother to Australian viewers."

Endemol Shine Australia's Chief Content Officer Peter Newman added: "We're extremely proud that Seven has commissioned us to deliver another series of the reality show that started it all, Big Brother.

"We're also very grateful to the fans of the show who have embraced the evolution of this incredible format."

Sonia Kruger will be returning as the host and she's super excited to see a new batch of housemates try and win over each other.

The new-look show is different in a lot of ways from its previous iterations, however the biggest change is that housemates vote each other off instead of the public. That means alliances have never been more important and people can't get away with being dramatic and earning the people's vote.
