Early life
Johnny Depp was born John Christopher Depp II in Owensboro, Kentucky, on June 9, 1963 making him 56. He was raised in Florida and dropped out of school at 15. Originally a ballpoint pen salesman, Johnny met up with Nicolas Cage who advised him to give acting a go. Soon after the conversation he played a teenager in the low budget horror 'A Nightmare on Elm Street'.
Career
His career really took off in 1987 after he played Tommy Hanson in a popular TV series called 21 Jump Street. He began to collaborate with spooky director Tim Burton. He starred in Edward Scissorhands which allowed him to become a gothic heartthrob in Ed Wood and Sleepy Hollow to name a few. He's played the roguish Jack Sparrow in the Pirates of the Caribbean films and showed his versatility in an on-screen adaptation of Roald Dahl's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

Hospital visits
Depp has been known to visit schools and hospitals dressed as his Pirate of the Caribbean character, Jack Sparrow. He told Graham Norton: "For me it's a gift. [The kids] are giving me the gift. I've spent time in [the hospital], I was the parent, when my daughter was ill.

Controversy
There's been an on-going battle between Depp and his ex-wife, Amber Heard. Depp is suing Heard for defamation with regards to several pieces that she has written about alleged abuse from the Pirates of the Caribbean star. Depp claims that he was abused by Heard and has alleged that she attacked him on several occasions, including one alleged incident in which a bottle of vodka was thrown at him. Depp is now suing his former spouse for $50m after an op-ed piece in the Washington Post in 2018 in which she spoke about the alleged domestic abuse suffered.
New girlfriend
Johnny Depp is allegedly dating a 20 something year old Russian dancer named Polina Glen. A source told the Daily Mail that she isn't a gold-digger: "She's not looking for anything from him. She's real. She's young. When you're 55 and you meet a twenty-something, there's no drama. It's fresh. You're completely head over heels. She's got a beautiful body.
