Spider-Man 3 is shaping up to be one hell of a superhero movies if rumours and leaks are anything to go by.

The latest suggestion that is coming out of Tinseltown is that Willem Dafoe is in talks to come back as Norman Osborn aka the Green Goblin.

Entertainment insider Daniel Richtman told We Got This Covered that Dafoe could be joined by Dane DeHaan, who played Norman's vengeful son in The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

If you're wondering how this would happen, considering the Green Goblin was fantastically vanquished in the 2002 original film, let us explain.

People have been speculating that Spider-Man 3 will be set in the multiverse, which can allow for alternate timelines to be shown during the movie and it gives the ability for filmmakers to tap into the previous projects.

That's why Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire are set to return for the forthcoming third instalment starring Tom Holland as Spider-Man.

Tobey Maguire's appearance will apparently hinge on the brokering of yet another agreement between Sony and Marvel, but that can definitely be done. They've thrashed out tougher deals in the past, after all.

As well as potentially bringing back Maguire and Garfield, it's also rumoured that Emma Stone will reprise her role as Gwen Stacy, and Kirsten Dunst will play Mary Jane Watson again.

We already know that the new Spider-Man will see returns for Zendaya, Tony Revolori, Marisa Tomei, and Jacob Batalon. Jon Watts is back in the directorial role, too.

The last Spider-Man was the highest grossing ever.

This time out, they'll have Benedict Cumberbatch playing Doctor Strange as well.

Holland himself has described the plot of the film as 'absolutely insane', so we'll have to take him at his word and assume that means some sort of multi-verse flipping is going to occur.

Joining this mega cast could be a few other villains from the previous movies.

It's recently been reported that Alfred Molina will be sticking back on his mechanical tentacles to play Doctor Octopus once again. He could be joined by Jamie Foxx's Electro, if reports come true.

If this happens, we will have the Spider-Men, love interests and villains from the previous cinematic eras of Spider-Man and everyone will likely be blown away. Only time will tell if all these rumours are correct.
