Zendaya has become the youngest woman to win Best Actress in a Drama Series at the Emmy Awards for her role in Euphoria.

The 24-year-old took out the coveted award at the 72nd edition of the award show, which was done virtually due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Zendaya beat the likes of Olivia Coleman for The Crown, Sandra Oh and Jodie Comer for Killing Eve, Laura Linney for Ozark and Jennifer Anniston for The Morning Show.

It's Zendaya's first ever Emmy and she looked positively thrilled at the announcement.

"I'm really, really nervous," she said.

"I just want to say thank you to the TV Academy and all the other women. This is crazy. Thank you HBO and A24 for your support. Thank you to my family and my team. To the incredible cast and crew of Euphoria. I'm so lucky and I'm inspired by everything you do."

"I feel like this is a weird time to be celebrating, but there is hope in the young people out there. I know our TV show doesn't always feel like a great example of that, but there is hope in the young people.

"And to my peers out there doing the work in the streets, I see you, I admire you and I thank you. And thank you so, so much."

"This is, whoa!"

Euphoria is an American adaptation of an Israeli TV show of the same name and follows drug addicted teenager Rue (Zendaya), who struggles to fit in with her classmates and stay clean.
