Leonardo DiCaprio Saved His Two Dogs From Frozen Lake While Filming Don't Look Up

The A-list actor jumped into the freezing cold lake after his rescue huskies decided to take a swim

Don’t Look Up has quickly become one of this year’s most anticipated films, partly due to its impressive A-List cast

The star-studded film sees Leonardo DiCaprio play an astronomer who is desperately trying to warn Earth's leaders of an approaching comet set to destroy the planet.

However, fans of DiCaprio will be surprised to hear that filming was thrown into chaos - all because of his misbehaving dogs.

During a panel with director Adam McKay and actors Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Lawrence, Meryl Streep, Jonah Hill and Tyler Perry, they recalled the hilarious moment DiCaprio’s dogs jumped into a frozen lake in Boston, where they were filming.

McKay began: "The funniest thing was, Leo has these two rescue huskies that are just absolute tornadoes. Jonah would send me pictures of [their] ripped-apart couch."

Lawrence proceeded to goad her castmates: "Tell the frozen lake story.”

"Basically, they both fell in a frozen lake," said Hill, who lived with his ex-Wolf of Wall Street castmate while shooting their new film.

DiCaprio continued: "Yeah, and then I went in. [Living in California] I didn't understand what you do at a frozen lake."

"One of the dogs fell in," said Lawrence, "and he jumped in the frozen lake to save the dog and as soon as he pushed the one dog out of the pond the other one jumped in."

"The other one started licking the one that was drowning and then we all were in the frozen lake together," said DiCaprio.

What a wholesome image that is.

Lawrence proceeded to share a little extra with fans, as she added: "I'm sure you guys are all wondering, I was too, he immediately got naked in the car."

The news of DiCaprio’s mischievous pets comes in after it was revealed Leo wasn’t happy with Meryl Streep stripping down for one scene of the film.

In an interview with The Guardian, director McKay said: "She is fearless. And yes, that is a body double.

"But you know who had a problem with it? Leo [DiCaprio].

"Leo just views Meryl as film royalty... although maybe royalty is not a compliment... but as such a special figure in the history of film.

"He didn't like seeing her with the lower back tattoo, walking for a second naked.

"He said something to me like: 'Do you really need to show that?' And I was like: 'It's President Orlean; it's not Meryl Streep.'

"But she didn't even blink. She didn't even bring it up."

Don't Look Up is currently in cinemas and will be released on Netflix 24 December.
