Casey Donovan And Vanessa Amorosi Will Battle It Out To Be Australia’s Next Eurovision Contender
Say what you want about Australia's involvement in Eurovision (it's tricky, okay), there's no denying the annual singing competition is fun and fierce.
If you liked Kate Miller Heidke's performance this year then you need to buckle up because 2020 could have an even better set.
It's been announced that former Australian Idol winner Casey Donovan will go up against Aussie icon Vanessa Amorosi to determine who we send to the Netherlands for the competition.
The Herald Sun reports Amorosi, aka the 'Absolutely Everybody' singer, was tipped to perform this year however it wasn't the right timing.
But now she's ready to go and couldn't be more excited.
"I am so incredibly excited to be part of Eurovision - Australia Decides 2020. I am a proud Aussie and to have the opportunity to sing one of my songs on a huge international stage representing Australia would be unforgettable," she said in a statement.
"I look forward to Australia hearing my song and working alongside friends and fellow musicians on this journey. It's going to be very special."
Casey Donovan won Australian Idol at just 16 and while she had a bit of a hiatus away from the spotlight, she's now back to her roots and starring in Chicago the musical.
"I'm so excited to be a part of Eurovision - Australia Decides after opening the show this year and seeing the amazing talent," she said.
"When I was asked I thought, what an amazing thing to be a part of! It doesn't matter what happens for me, Proud is such an incredible song written by the talented Justine Eltakchi and I'm proud to sing it.
" I can't wait to share the stage with some of Australia's most talented singers. And I mean Vanessa Amorosi ... She's my idol! I love her!"
The two will battle it out for Australia Decides which will take place in February next year.
To be honest, they're both bloody good options.
