Rapper Diddy has revealed that he's in talks with Dr Dre about a potential online rap battle.

Pretty much as soon as Swizz Beatz and Timbaland launched Verzuz TV on Instagram, as a way to share rap battles during lockdown, fans have been hoping Diddy and Dr Dre would make an appearance.

And now it seems as though they might finally be getting what they wished for.

In a recent Instagram Live Fat Joe asked if there was any chance Diddy and Dre would consider featuring on Verzuz - asking if there were 'even talks or whispers'.

Diddy replied: "Yeah, we're definitely talking about it. You heard it here... you heard it here on the show."

Before he started jokingly referring to Joe as Jo-prah (punning on US talk show legend Oprah Winfrey) for breaking the news via his Instagram channel.

Diddy's reveal comes after Dr Dre admitted he had been 'going back and forth' with the rapper about a possible battle.

It's fair to say Fat Joe was pretty excited by the news.

Speaking after Teddy Riley and Babyface's battle last week, Dre told Riley: "I don't know if I'm interested man, we'll see, we'll see.

"I was going back and forth with Puff earlier today and ... you and Babyface are inspirational. You guys are champions but ... I don't know if this is for me."

Verzuz TV launched last month and since then has already welcomed some pretty big names, including battles between T-Pain vs Lil Jon, Scott Storch vs Mannie Fresh, and The-Dream vs Sean Garrett.

The series has proved to be a massive hit with hip hop fans, Swizz Beatz said more than four million people tuned in for the Riley vs Babyface match.

Some viewers weren't even able to connect and were met with an error message due to the sheer number of people trying to watch at home.

Instagram posted a statement warning fans of 'technical difficulties' on the app, urging them to use a desktop to watch.

And the official Verzuz TV page has since shared stats showing that the battle led to a surge in followers for both artists - with Babyface picking up more than one million new Instagram followers just one day after taking part. Not too shabby.
