Ed Sheeran has continued to refuse fans to use re-sold tickets on his current tour and has insisted he's 'not stitching fans up'.

The singer, who is currently on his Divided tour around the UK, says 'people just need to take a stance' against ticket touts who are buying multiple tickets and then selling them on to eager fans with a hefty mark up.

At his Manchester dates fans who had tickets bought through re-seller site Viagogo were told they would need to buy new ones for face-value - £80 - and their original tickets were stamped 'invalid'.

Ed says those who had the invalid tickets would be able to claim a refund from the site they bought them from.

Promotors for his tour have cancelled over 10,000 tickets, all of which had been re-sold on Viagogo - many of them for a hell of a lot more than face value. Fans were warned in advance of the move by Ed and his team, which he says will hit touts hard, but won't affect fans.

However, his move to target touts hasn't gone down well with all fans. One woman, who says she spent £400 for tickets, told the Mirror she was 'fuming' that they were not valid.

Speaking at BBC Music's Biggest Weekend, Ed said: "It's being done properly, I'm not stitching fans up.

"People just need to take a stance. In two or three years companies like Viagogo are going to be kaput."

Viagogo has says Ed's plans are 'highly unfair and, in our view, unenforceable and illegal'.

Last year, when the tickets went on sale, Ed's team cancelled tickets as they appeared on re-selling sites and re-issued them, giving fans a chance to see him without having to flog a kidney on the black market.

Speaking in July, a spokesperson said: "Most profiteering companies heeded promoters' warnings not to trade and resell tickets that would instantly be cancelled. This resulted in 90 percent of tickets being delivered into fans' hands at the face value.

"The process of analysing sales and cancelling tickets purchased for purposes for resale will continue until the tour takes place."
