Ed Sheeran Responds After Getting 16 Songs In UK Top 20

He's smashed it here.

Ed Sheeran has responded in typical Ed fashion to the fact that nine of his songs are in the top 10.

Speaking to Greg James, he said: "I never expected to have nine songs in the top 10 ever in my life so yeah, I don't know, something's gone wrong.

"But I'm definitely very, very happy about it."

How very humble.

Remaining at the top of the charts is 'Shape of You', which has sold over a millioncopies in the UK since it was first released.

The Official Chart Company changed the way it calculates the Top 40 earlier this year to reflect the rise in streaming. Alongside physical copies and downloads, 150 streamings count as a sale of a song.

This means Ed's domination of the chart should come as no surprise, as Divide (styled ÷) broke first-day stream records on Spotify after 56,727,861 streams on the day of its release (3rd March) alone.

As if that was not enough for the British singer-songwriting lad, Ed went on to smash one-day stream records as well, with 'Shape of You' getting more than 10 million streams last Friday.

YouTube has also announced that the singer's album has already managed more than one billion views on the site.

And Ed told OfficialCharts.com: "Wow! What a phenomenal week. To every person who's bought the album - thank you. I'm buzzing!"

To be fair, it's probably all down to the fact that he flogged his own albums in a HMV store last week.

Ed Sheeran looked like his own biggest fan when he made an appearance in London Oxford Street's HMV.

Look at him:

Ed was in store wearing a T-shirt with his own album cover and a little name badge. Something quite endearing about this fella, isn't there?

He then went on to buy his own album, which you would think he would have a copy of by now, and served a few customers. Imagine buying Ed's album from Ed... weird.

He shared the clip of him serving on his Facebook with the caption: "Quitting music, found a new job."

Speaking to Nova FM he said that the 'Shape of You' and 'Castle on the Hill' were not the best songs on ÷.

He said: "There are better songs on the album. They're not even in the top five.

"There are other songs that defecate on them."

I agree. 'Dive' and 'Barcelona' are absolute bangers.
