Foo Fighters Say Carpool Karaoke With James Corden Was Embarrassing

They're not wrong.

It turns out that Foo Fighters appearance on James Cordon's Carpool Karaoke was as painful for them to take part in as it was for non-fans to listen to.

The group made their first appearance on the popular segment of the Late Late Late Show last month but in a recent interview with the NME, they said the entire thing was pretty knackering.

"By hour three in dude's car it got less fun," guitarist Pat Smear told NME. "It kinda went on. When we stopped at Guitar Centre, that felt like we were done, but it was like 'this is halfway'."

If you're wondering whether Cordon is a music lover, lead singer David Grohl says he is. He also admitted he'd rather sing his song on stage than in a car.

"Oh he definitely is [a music lover]," he said. "And he's a very nice guy. But y'know, I don't mind singing my own songs at Glastonbury or The O2 but if I had to sing you a song right now I'd be too embarrassed."

And when Smear said that 'singing other people's songs would have been easier', Grohl followed up and said: "I could do that all day. We did The Ramones, and Rick Astley, but they didn't use it. I don't know why."

As well as fronting one of the biggest rock bands in the world - and previously drumming for one of the most iconic bands of all time - Grohl also does a mean Christopher Walken impression.

Speaking to Chris Moyles for Radio X, Grohl recounted the story of the time the Hollywood star was hosting Saturday Night Live and had to introduce the band.

Unfamiliar with the band, he asked Grohl whether the emphasis was on the word 'Foo' or 'Fighter'. Grohl, wanting to hear his band's name in true Walken-style, lied and said 'fighter'.

For comparison, you can see how it sounded straight out of Walken's mouth here:

Walken clearly has no idea who the Foo Fighters are: "I thought you were Chinese.."

This weekend, Foo Fighters headline their own festival 'Cal Jam', alongside Queens Of The Stone Age, Liam Gallagher and Wolf Alice among others.
