Kanye West and Dr Dre have announced they are joining up to release a new collaborative project entitled Jesus is King Part II.

Making the announcement on Twitter, Kanye shared a photo of himself and Dre in a studio - and doesn't he look happy about the whole thing?

This will be the first time the two hip-hop heavyweights have ever released music together - although, Kanye has previously heaped praise on Dre.

Speaking to Rolling Stone, he revealed he had been 'star struck' when he first met Dre all the way back in 2003, but 'within 30 minutes' was 'begging him to mix my next album'.

The news comes just weeks after Kanye released his ninth album Jesus Is King.

Meanwhile, Dre tweeted out the same image, with the same caption: "Ye and Dre Jesus is King Part II Coming Soon."

Understandably, fans are already excited about the whole thing with one tweeting to say: "Two of the greatest producers of all time. This is amazing."

And another posting: "We need the old Kanye back. Dre, I know you two about to make fire."

While a third chipped in: "Just seeing two of the best producers and most important people in hip hop history in the same studio makes me happy."

But some fans seemingly didn't want to get their hopes up just yet and were quick to point out that Dre has kept them waiting a long time for his proposed album Detox... and when I say a long time, I mean he's been working on it since 2005.

So, will we be expected to wait that long, or will we get this new project straight off the back of Jesus Is King? Who knows, but what we do know is that it's probably going to be pretty bloody good.
