Kanye West reportedly spent $85,000 (£63,600) on a photo of Whitney Houston's bathroom to use as the cover image for Pusha T's new album.

The snap, which was taken in 2006 by a member of Houston's family, shows drug paraphernalia scattered about the place as the singer battled with addiction.

West, who produced the new album, shared the photo with his followers announcing: "album 1 PUSHA T DAYTONA dropping 2mrw."

Naturally, using such a picture have stirred up a bit of controversy, but this is what Kanye does best, right?

Taking to Twitter one person said: "The Pusha T album cover is unacceptable, if it's Whitney Houston's photo." Another urged the rapper to 'change the cover before you release the album' while a third wrote: "This is disgusting. Let Whitney rest in peace, using her demons as album art isn't 'art'."

However not everyone slated the cover, some fans said the image was a good fit for the type of raps Pusha T releases. One commented: "If Pusha T's album cover offends you, then you were never in his fan base. That album cover is perfect for his lyrical content."

Another wrote: "Pusha T cover is pretty genius. His raps glorifies the empire he built off drug sales. The photo symbolizes the victims of that same market; in regards to an artist he idolizes at that."

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Pusha T said that the photo does 'match the energy' of the album.

He said: "I feel like the cover represents an organised chaos. The energy of the album is a bit chaotic, but it's all in place. Looking at that cover, I'm sure whoever frequents that bathroom or area knew whatever they wanted to find and knew where it was."

He went on to reveal that Kanye admitted to spending $85K to use the image.

Speaking on The Angie Martinez Show, he said: "He changed my artwork last night at 1am. He wasn't feeling it.

"I love it, I actually do love it. [But] I absolutely did not want to pay for it." Well at that price who can blame him?
