American rapper Kendrick Lamar will be playing a huge London show as part of the Hyde Park BST line-up.

Lamar will be closing their first weekend on Sunday 5th July.

The rapper is widely considered as one of the best of all time so this is a massive coup for the festival. 'King Kendrick' has countless awards to back up his claim to the hip-hop throne.

Most notably, he won the acclaimed Pulitzer prize in 2018 for his album 'DAMN' - the first winner to not come from the classical or jazz genres. Lamar has a total of 173 awards as he sits at the top of the tree as the world's most decorated recording artist.

Alongside Lamar, James Blake and Brittany Howard will be on the bill on July 5.

Drake, Beyonce and Kanye West are just some of the names that James Blake has collaborated with. He received two Grammy nominations last year for 'King's Dead' alongside Kendrick Lamar, Future and Jay Rock. His latest album 'Assume Form' was also very well received.

Brittany Howard might be better known as the lead singer and guitarist of American rock band Alabama Shakes, but her album 'Jaime' which was released last year received great reviews from music critics across the board.

This will be the 8th edition of the festival, which has a reputation for providing magical 'I was there' moments. For instance, The Rolling Stones' return to Hyde Park last year, as well as returns for The Libertines and The Strokes. Performances from the likes of Stevie Wonder and Robbie Williams at Hyde Park are now iconic.

Kendrick Lamar, James Blake and Brittany Howard are just the latest artists to be announced with Little Mix, Zara Larsson, Taylor Swift and Pearl Jam already confirmed.
