Lil Nas X Responds To 'Negative Energy' After Fake Pregnancy Photoshoot

Lil Nas X has said he's going offline for a bit to get 'negative energy' out of his head after he shared a controversial photoshoot in which he appeared to be pregnant ahead of the release of his first ever album.

OK, so much of the controversy here appears to come from a load of people who can't grasp a pretty obvious concept.

The album is the baby, he's not actually pregnant. We shouldn't have to explain that to so many people, but here we are

Regardless, after the backlash, Lil Nas X - real name Montero Lamar Hill - tweeted: "Let me get offline, all of this negative energy is not good for the baby."

The photoshoot came about because the Old Town Road musician is set to release his first ever album, which will feature huge hits like 'Montero (Call Me By Your Name)' and 'Industry Baby'.

The album is set to be called MONTERO, as he announced when he tweeted: "SURPRISE! I can't believe I'm finally announcing this. My little bundle of joy MONTERO is due September 17, 2021."

That's just two weeks away.

The pregnancy photoshoot idea was apparently the result of listening to Megan Thee Stallion's verse from his upcoming song 'Dolla Sign Slime'.

In an interview with People, Nas explained: "I was like, 'Oh my God, this is amazing,' so I immediately called my stylist,

"She was like, 'Wow, this all comes together. Your album. Your baby.' I was like, 'Yeah, this is my baby, huh?' As a joke, she was like, 'Yeah, you should do a pregnancy shoot.'

"I was like, 'You know what? That's actually brilliant.'

"So now we have this entire thing coming out, and it's going to be amazing."

As well as Megan, the album also features guest spots from Miley Cyrus, Elton John and Doja Cat, amongst others.

However, the shoot did attract quite a bit of negative attention, with one person tweeting: "I'm with freedom of whatever, but at this point Lil Nas is f***ing with the minds of kids.

"What are your thoughts, how do I explain this s*** to my son?"

To that, one person responded: "Boys have been putting basketballs under their shirt to look pregnant since 1891.

"Your son will be alright."

Another negative comment read: "I really tired of Lil Nas .. his ugly a** to [sic] much."

Nas himself took this one on, responded: "You really on here calling a young mother to be ugly?"

Anyway, as publicity goes, it couldn't really have worked out any better for him.

MONTERO is out on 17 September.
