Spice Girls fans Down Under were collectively shocked, surprised and excited over the weekend after the girl group seemingly confirmed an Aussie tour next year.

Well, it was actually just Mel B aka Scary Spice, who told the London crowd at Wembley Stadium that they were popping down to the Southern Hemisphere in February.

Naturally, everyone went ballistic and started getting their finances ready for a rush ticket sale.

But now Mel has revealed that that February date is kind of pencilled in rather than ink.

Speaking to 2Day FM's Grant, Ed and Ash, Scary Spice said: "You know me by now. I always say the Spice Girls are going to continue and continue and tour the whole world.

"My thing is, and I've got a bee in my bonnet about it, is that we need to come to Australia first out the gate. I announced it on stage, yes, without everybody else signing off 100 per cent, but I figured if I put it out there maybe it's going to happen."

Apparently her band mates, Geri Halliwell aka Ginger Spice, Emma Bunton aka Baby Spice and Mel C aka Sporty Spice aren't 'on board fully, yet' with the idea of an Aussie tour.

How the hell you wouldn't be keen to make a bit more dosh as well as make your fans happy is beyond us but then again, everyone has commitments and it could be tricky.

Geri also gave fans an unexpected twist at the London show: making an official apology to the fans.

"I need to say something I should have said a long time ago. I'm sorry. I'm sorry I left. I was just being a brat. It is so good to be back with the girls that I love," she said.

Geri left the group in 1998 while they were only just hitting their peak.

She explained in a documentary that she wasn't gelling with the girls despite their incredible fame.

"I felt I didn't belong any more. They didn't need me any more, really, and I definitely felt very redundant."
